Because no family should face this alone.
We know what it’s like.
You never forget the moment everything changes - the first reaction, the first trip to the ER, the overwhelming fear that food is no longer safe.
It happened to us, too.
Fifteen years ago, our oldest daughter, Sadie, was just 18 months old when a simple granola bar turned into a life-threatening emergency. The diagnosis came quickly - peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies.
A new reality set in, one that came with fear, endless label-reading, and the weight of keeping our daughter safe in a world that wasn’t built for food allergies.
Two years later, Jonah was born. His symptoms were different, harder to pinpoint. But at 18 months, after countless reactions and medical confusion, he was diagnosed with multiple anaphylactic food allergies, Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EOE), and asthma.
Our growing family now had two children with life-altering allergies - and two more who, by grace, had none.
The road was long, exhausting, and expensive. But we weren’t willing to let food allergies define our children’s lives.
Finding a way forward.
When Jonah asked to enter the Tolerance Induction Program (TIP) at the Food Allergy Institute in Long Beach, CA, we knew it was the right step.
The program was groundbreaking - offering a pathway to food freedom. But the financial burden was staggering. Even with good insurance and two incomes, they quickly realized the cost gap was enormous for families trying to afford treatment, specialty foods, and travel.
And yet, despite the financial and emotional toll, healing was possible.
That’s when we knew something had to change - not just for our own family, but for the thousands of others walking this road.

Small steps. Mighty changes.
Dissatisfied with the barriers families face when trying to afford life-saving treatment, Jessie decided to take action. The pursuit of food freedom shouldn’t come at such a high cost when the social and emotional toll is already so heavy.
With the full support of her husband, TJ, and their entire family, the Small & Mighty Foundation was born.
Our mission is simple: to stand in the gap for families who need someone to come alongside them on the path to food freedom.
Why Small & Mighty?
Because we believe in the power of small steps - one family at a time, one meal at a time, one breakthrough at a time.
Because a small bite of the wrong food can have mighty consequences, but the right treatment can lead to mighty freedom.
Because no parent should have to choose between safety and affordability.
Because no child should grow up in fear of food.
You are not alone.

We understand the road you’re on.
